Founded in 1999 through a partnership between the Solid Waste Authority of Palm Beach County, Children's Services Council, the Palm Beach County School District, and Florida Power & Light, Resource Depot was created to address two growing challenges: reducing waste and expanding access to affordable materials for education and the arts. Today, Resource Depot is South Florida's only creative reuse and environmental education center, inspiring a future where creativity and conservation go hand in hand.

We believe imagination is one of our most renewable resources. At Resource Depot we follow the timeless mantra, "Use it up, wear it out, make it do, or do without."  We rescue surplus and discarded materials from businesses and individuals and transform them into opportunities for learning, artistic expression, and innovation. What others see as waste, we see as possibility.

We believe every resource has value. Each year, hundreds of thousands of pounds of reusable materials are diverted from the waste stream and redistributed to teachers, artists, students, families, nonprofits, and community organizations. By extending the life of these materials, we demonstrate that caring for our planet begins with rethinking what we already have and inspiring others to do the same.

We believe creativity is strongest when it is shared. Beyond providing affordable creative materials, Resource Depot serves as a community hub where people of all ages come together to create, learn, and connect. Through hands-on environmental education programs, workshops, exhibitions in the Pam Sartory GalleRE, outreach initiatives, and community events, we provide the tools, experiences, and inspiration that help individuals think differently about consumption, creativity, and their impact on the world.

Every rescued material has the potential to become a work of art, a classroom lesson, an invention, or the spark of a new idea.
