Explore ways to reduce the clothes that end up in landfills, and make your own tic-tac toe game bag from upcycled fabric!
Our outreach packages feature fabric sourced from large companies that produce seasonal fabric samples. Once those seasons pass, these samples often end up in landfills as they are no longer considered trendy. Luckily, some of these companies donate the fabric to Resource Depot so we can give them a second life and keep them out of our landfill.
Each package includes a comprehensive lesson plan, upcycled materials, a captivating class presentation, and step-by-step instructions to create portable game bags. These bags can be taken anywhere, from restaurants and waiting rooms to recess and parties! With enough pre-sewn pouches for 30 students and an abundance of upcycled materials for creating game pieces, everyone can participate in this exciting project.
You will likely have upcycled materials left over, which can be used for other creative endeavors, donated back to Resource Depot, or utilized in our complementary Fast Fashion extension activity.
