About the Event
In this two-hour workshop, you'll learn foundational Sashiko techniques using reclaimed denim patches printed with wash-away templates — so you can focus on the stitching and leave with a beautiful, finished sample. Whether you're brand new to hand stitching or looking to deepen your mending practice, this class is designed to give you both the skills and the confidence to keep going at home.
Merica brings a warm, experienced teaching style to everything she does. With a studio in Brooklyn focused on denim repair and reweave-style alterations, she has taught hand stitching workshops at Materials for the Arts in New York City and is passionate about making visible mending accessible to everyone.
All materials are provided, including reclaimed denim patches, proper Sashiko thread, and Sashiko thimbles — everything you need for a strong, satisfying first experience with the technique.
