Collective dREams for a Waste-Free Planet is a two-year outreach initiative by Resource Depot, offered throughout Palm Beach County from 2024–2026 to inspire participants of all ages and abilities to envision a more sustainable future through creative reuse.

Each two-hour interactive workshop, led by a teaching artist, combined discussions about waste reduction and environmental stewardship with hands-on artmaking using reclaimed materials, all provided by Resource Depot.

Participants created mixed-media weavings that reflected their visions for a waste-free planet. Each artwork was photographed alongside the participant's hopes and dreams for their personal future and the future of our world, creating a collection that inspires community dialogue and solution-oriented thinking.

Reflections & Results

As part of the Collective dREams for a Waste-Free Planet program, participants and site partners completed surveys and reflection activities to share what they learned, how their perspectives changed, and their hopes for a more sustainable future. The results below highlight the program's impact through participant feedback, artwork, and personal reflections, demonstrating how creative experiences can inspire environmental awareness and meaningful action.

Student hopes and dreams were grouped into recurring themes that emerged across the responses. Percentages are approximate and reflect how frequently ideas appeared, since many students shared overlapping thoughts and aspirations.
