About the Event

Material Matters is a community gathering and professional development series for artists actively working to build or grow their studio practice, with a focus on creative reuse and environmentally connected approaches to making. Through informal conversations, artist-led discussions, demonstrations, and shared exploration, artists will have opportunities to exchange ideas, resources, processes, and perspectives around reclaimed, found, and unconventional materials.

Rather than a traditional critique group, Material Matters is a space for sharing, connection, and discovery. Sessions will explore mindfulness of materials, process, and content as they relate to the environment, creative reuse, and related themes. Each gathering will offer a different point of entry, with ideas and conversations building organically over time.

Artists are welcome to attend individual sessions or multiple sessions; consecutive attendance is not required. The series is designed to be valuable whether you join for one conversation or return throughout the season.
