Artists Workshop: Studio Marathon With Amy S. Broderick

The Studio Marathon is an opportunity to generate new ideas in a vibrant, supportive, fearless environment. Participants will work alongside one another to identify key themes in their current creative practice and to explore new ideas, develop their strengths, and open new possibilities. We will work quickly, experimentally, and with open minds as we pursue both beloved and new materials, subjects, concepts, and solutions. The studio marathon is an exercise that prioritizes working fast and taking risks, while also exploring familiar topics and making finished pieces. We will aim to make 40 – 50 finished works, each one no larger than the open palm of our hand or our closed fist (this is not a firm limit, but a recommendation). 

Each of us will use our own selection of materials that interest us; there is no right, wrong, or required materials list. It’s a good idea to bring a range of materials and tools, as well as the things you need to document your progress.  With the Amy's mentorship and keen eye, as well as the other participants’ energy and generosity, we will spend a thrilling weekend expanding our practice, learning from both our successes and failures, and making more new work than we imagined possible.   Snack, Refreshments and Lunch will be provided. 

Meet & Greet - Friday, October 13, 2023 (optional) 6:30-8:00pm - Meet Amy, see her work on display. Meet fellow workshop participants and get ready for the next two days of making. Participants will bring their preferred materials, but basic art making supplies will be available.

1st Day of Making - Saturday, October 14, 2023 - 9:00am-3:00pm - Spend the day making.

2nd Day of Making & Critique - Sunday, October 15, 2023 - 9:00am-3:00pm (Making & Discussion) 3:30pm-4:30pm (Mini Opening for the Public)
