The SWA Run AWAY 5K is a unique race that takes participants AWAY through cabbage palms, cypress hammocks, marshes and lush pine flatwoods, with glimpses of Grassy Waters Preserve and the Renewable Energy Park.
The race begins at the SWA Palmetto Trailhead Parking Area (southern entrance to SWA Greenway Trail System at the bend where 45th Street becomes N Jog Road), West Palm Beach, FL 33412.
All proceeds of the run benefit Resource Depot and supports our work to inspire creativity, conservation and community engagement through reuse of waste.
Our 2026 was a record-breaking event with 432 participants who enjoyed the lush
SWA Greenway Trail System and beautiful weather. We raised over $19,000 in proceeds—fueling Resource Depot’s work across Palm Beach County. Because of your support, we’re able to divert more
materials from the waste stream, put creative resources into more hands, and
inspire our community to waste less and create more.

Gather your group of six or more and enjoy a
$5 discount*on each registration fee.
(Plus groups will receive a special shout-out at the race!)
No need to gather the entire group before signing up – recruitment is open until online registration closes.
Once the 6th person joins your group, the previous 5 adults will be issued a $5 refund.
Team members 6 and beyond will be able to register at the discounted price once they join the group.
*While the discount doesn't apply to the youth registration rate, youngsters can still be part of your race team.
Interested in building a team at your workplace, school or organization?
Corporate Teams are coordinated through a designated "captain" at your place of business, who compiles a list of registrants and makes a single payment for all registrations. Corporate teams will be acknowledged at the race, with a special prize for the team with the highest number of registrations. Contact Patti at events@swa.org to create your corporate team.
